Construction sites are high-risk workplaces with various dangers such as falls, collapses, tipping over, electric shocks, and crushing hazards. To identify and control these risks in advance, a risk assessment is conducted.

🔍 What Is Risk Assessment?

“Risk assessment is the process of identifying potential hazards in the workplace, evaluating the degree of risk they pose, and establishing appropriate measures to control or eliminate them.”

In other words, risk assessment is a safety management procedure that involves:

  • Discovering hazards →
  • Evaluating how dangerous they are →
  • Preparing and implementing improvement measures.

The business owner is responsible for identifying harmful and risky factors, evaluating their level of risk, and taking appropriate actions to reduce these risks.

Risk assessment is overseen by the employer and involves site supervisors, workers, and contractors. The results must be shared with everyone on site through safety checks and meetings before work begins.

All members collaborate to identify hazards and share both the findings and the improvements made!


📂 Why Is Risk Assessment Important on Construction Sites?

  • It is a legal obligation (Occupational Safety and Health Act, Articles 36–37). ( Korean standards)
  • It is a mandatory document before starting work (submitted with the work plan).
  • Prevents worker accidents.
  • Clarifies responsibility in case of industrial accidents.
